Breaking Poverty Cycles Through Entrepreneurship (Advancing SDG 1: No Poverty)
UTEG fosters economic inclusion among vulnerable communities through entrepreneurship programs and social engagement initiatives. For instance, the university has collaborated with adolescents, youth, and women in marginalized regions to develop their entrepreneurial skills, providing them with tools and mentorship to establish sustainable businesses. Water Stewardship, Life Sustained (ODS 6)
Water stewardship is a priority at UTEG. Annually, the university hosts the International Water Week, convening national and international experts to share knowledge on water management, sanitation, and resource conservation. Additionally, UTEG conducts applied research in wastewater treatment—including innovative biological reactors—and implements educational workshops (featuring virtual reality) to promote responsible water usage among students and communities.

Clean Energy for a Sustainable Campus (ODS 7)
UTEG is transforming its campus through initiatives focused on affordable and clean energy. Pilot solar panels have been installed to reduce conventional energy consumption while serving as a living lab on renewable energy for students. Concurrently, the university organizes workshops and educational field trips—such as visits to Loja’s Scientific and Technological Park—to promote energy efficiency practices and inspire youth to develop clean energy projects. UTEG students are already presenting innovative proposals in national competitions focused on renewables and sustainable solutions.
These efforts enable UTEG to reduce its carbon footprint while inspiring communities to adopt clean energy solutions that drive a greener future.

- Co-hosted by UTEG, the public enterprise Épico, and partner organizations, this event convened ~200 leaders from 8 cities nationwide.
